The last two weeks have flown by, I can’t believe that we are fast approaching February, where does the time go.
I have had some very interesting visits recently. I attended a meeting at the Southend Education Trust which is a Partnership of 55 schools and the local Authority. They are a social enterprise business with charitable status formed to achieve their vision which is for Southend to be a “Learning Town.” The Trust’s main purpose is to support schools and other agencies to work collaboratively to achieve their vision.
I also visited Recycle Southend Centre. Recycle Southend provide a new lease of life to bikes that otherwise may have been scrapped. Each bike has any necessary repairs carried out and then they are provided with a full service before being sold at a discounted rate. They have bikes for adults and children and they turn around roughly 20 bikes a week. They recently sold their 1000th bike which is fantastic news. I like to cycle when I can and this visit inspired me to get the bike out and if weather permits, have a bike ride with the children this weekend.
Last week the Rochford and Southend East Conservative Association hosted the Conservative Women’s Organisations Annual Dinner and were delighted to welcome Bob Neill MP Parliamentary Under Secretary of State from Communities and Local Government. Bob addressed everybody and gave an insight into what has been happening within the department, key achievements since the general election and their plans for the future.
As ever it is moving to attend Holocaust events both in the constituency and in Parliament.
