Sir James Duddridge KCMG, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, has welcomed additional funding for Waterman Primary Academy and Friars Primary School and Nursery to aid with repairs and refurbishment of their buildings.
The Condition Improvement Fund of £450 million is part of the government's committed £1.8 billion of capital funding for this financial year to improve the condition of school buildings.
Eight hundred fifty-nine academies, sixth-form colleges and voluntary aided schools across the country will receive the funding. Many of the funded projects will lead to an improved environment for pupils with safer and warmer classrooms - and in some cases, more energy-efficient buildings helping to meet the government’s net zero target.
Commenting, Sir James said
“It is brilliant news that Waterman Primary Academy and Friars Primary School and Nursery were both successful in getting a share of the Condition Improvement Fund to make repairs and improvements to their buildings.
“With funding arriving from July, both schools will be able to hit the ground running to utilise this additional investment into providing safer and better facilities for pupils!”
