James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, confirms he supports Southend Council's decision to submit an appplication for City Status.
James said
""I am delighted that Southend has decided to bid for City Status as part of the National Celebrations of The Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The project board has a variety of members, all of which are passionate about Southend - it's past, present and shaping the future.""
""Southend has seen substantial investments over recent years. If successful in securing City Status, it will be a testament of all the hard work and dedication of Southend's councillors, officers, residents and visitors. Southend will be recognised Nationally as a jewel in the crown.""
""Southend needs to be back on the map. Southend is more than a day trip and a stroll down the pier. Southend is a city""
