James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East has cancelled Christmas, well Christmas cards anyway!
Every year, since 2005, James has sent over 1,000 Christmas cards and with that comes a huge financial cost.
James has decided instead of sending Christmas cards, this year he will make a donation to a local charity, determined by the constituents of Rochford and Southend East.
Nominations can be made via www.jamesduddridge.com, in writing to his constituency office or by telephone. The charity with the most support will be presented with the donation by James.
James said
""I have decided not to send Christmas cards this year but to offer a donation to a local charity.
I have put a form on my website for people to submit their chosen charity. I am also taking suggestions via email, letter and telephone.
I hope that you will support this idea especially at a time when we are all having to watch money and are conscious about the environment.
Please do send me the name of your chosen charity.""
Nominations close at 5pm on Monday 20th December 2010
